The flight of the Bombus Terrestris and its aerodynamics are quite interesting, it is a involving subject indeed. On paper the Bumble Bee cannot fly, in fact, all Bee species cannot fly as per the scientists and aerospace engineers of the past. That's okay Sikorsky proved that helicopters could fly, after the figures showed it to be not possible. Apparently, Leonardo da Vinci, who many reputation with the first helicopter institute is still laughing from above right now.
It appears helicopters can fly, they fly very well as Sikorsky demonstrated, long before anything could prove why. Power to the entrepreneur, because while the engineers are selecting materials and the scientists are arguing about the reality of the concept, it is the innovator, and inventor, the eminent achiever creative genius entrepreneur who flies it over their heads, while they are busy doing a "dandruff Tv commercial" scratching theirs!
If you ask any aerodynamic engineer why a bumble bee won't fly, they can show you on paper with graphs, charts and diagrams. If you befriend such an aerospace scientist they may even show you on a cad cam computer program why it is impossible due to airflows. In fact, they can even prove on paper why it is clearly impossible. All this begets the question; "Well, if bumble bees cannot fly, what is that one there doing out your window by that rose bush?"
This is a exquisite example of why we must all challenge the experts and ask questions of academia. You must always remember that imagination and perseverance trumps all! Now how would I know that?
